Who We Are
CNIC LLC is a financial innovation platform focused on developing next-generation energy commodity investment products.
Founded in January 2021 by industry veterans Donald R. Sinclair and Timothy J. Kramer, CNIC creates energy commodity financial instruments that are accessible to both institutional and retail investors—products traditionally limited to hedge funds and commodity trading desks. Our flagship index, ICEUPWRT (ICE US Power Total Return Index) is the first and only U.S.-listed index that provides pure exposure to wholesale electricity prices—the most consumed commodity in the U.S. and a key driver of future inflation and growth.
Through exclusive partnerships with Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and other industry-standard benchmark and index platforms, CNIC has created a powerful product pipeline: four fully licensed and contracted products ready to launch, and three more in advanced development. With a mission to democratize access to energy-based financial products, CNIC is shaping how investors think about the role of real assets in the modern portfolio. Our products are SFDR Article 8 and UCITS aligned, and built for a future driven by electrification, AI, and a transforming power grid.
